Fear and Loathing in Marketing-Land

Tomorrow's Wednesday, so I might as well spill the beans in a Wednesday Wildcard post.

I've been scared about marketing lately. Afraid people won't like me if I promote my work. Afraid of being called names (yes, it happens) and accused of having nefarious motives.

And afraid of not having what it takes to make a living.

Now, I've been coaching and teaching since 1996, and I've been making my living at it since 1999. But, as you may have noticed, fear doesn't listen to the facts. Fear spends its time running the parade of horrible imaginables. And, as I have a terrific imagination, fear can hang out in my psyche for ages, leaving empty beer bottles, cigarette butts, and junk food wrappers everywhere.

(I don't drink or smoke these days, and I don't eat (much) junk food. But tell that to fear. Honestly, that girl has no class.)

Anyway, I've got some experience working with and through fear. Recently I gave an ebook about fear a facelift and a modest edit. You can download Breaking the Habit of Fear free.

But only until Monday, folks. This one is going into the catalog next week.

Phooey - I couldn't get the pdf file to open. Probably a bug on my system, but when I right clicked and chose "save target as" I got the IE error message "File name, directory name or volume lable syntax incorrect". By the way thankx so much for adding a link to explain how to make the text size larger. And bless you for not having white text on a dark background. Now that really makes me nuts! Love your stuff, been reading you since "New Leaf" ;-)

Marion- see if this link works better. If not, drop Maggie a note (maggie AT shaboominc.com) and ask her to email it to you.
